James H. Bridgewater originally served as a Second Lieutenant in Company F, 3rd Kentucky Infantry Regiment and then, as a Captain, commanded the Bridgewater Scouts Company, Kentucky State Troops. Then he commanded a Company in the Hall's Gap Battalion, Kentucky State Troops and finally the Battalion itself with the rank of Major.

The Camp was formed in September of 2006. It is headquartered in Lincoln County, Kentucky. They hold their Quarterly meetings at the Lancaster Municipal Building, W Maple St.
